"Hunting Camp" breaks records and builds bonds!
Saturday, 01/28/06
MEGA Kudos to Lisa & Fiest for being the first Yank to successfully "crossing over" from SCH 3 to MR 3 (though she did play at MR1, then up to SCH 3 , so she's not eligible for the $100 crossover challenge:)*) AND for earning the highest USA MR3 score to date !!!! (previously held by the late Brawney Bombadier ot Vitosha "BOMBER" & Kathy O)
BIG Congrats to Augusta Farley & ZULU du Ciel Rogue for highest USA level 2 score (previously held by O'Bre-on's YSHA Rose & Sharon) In addition to her signature excellant handling, Augusta gets the credit for the majority of this trial's organization, hosting the judge and footing the not so insignificant bill for this event. Watch out Lisa, Zulu is looking to earn the USA Level 3 high score stolen from her dear old daddy "Bomber" ;)))) Oh and, Lisa, try to discourage the kids from doing their own piercings!!!
One ot the days challenges included an absence with the difficulty today being not with the distraction, but the positioning of the dog being placed beside the obstacle with the handler stepping over the obstacle and going behind the dog to the blind.
Field "decoration" included decoy (NOT that kind of decoy:) geese & ducks, the walk thru "bottle wall" and a traditional barell obstacle.
Safe work, good game and fair weather.
A lovely judge's dinner at Outback restaurant and resting up for tommorrow's fun!

Sunday
A tight ship was run on a highly creative field set up by appprentice Ann Putegnat. A "taste" of the day included an absence with Mondio Village Crier Michel Boisseau circling the dog ringing a dinner bell and announcing a Modesto duck dinner cooked by the decoys. This humourously linked to a defence involving grouchy, aggressive decoys and campside cookin.
Closing ceremony included a touching speech by Judge, Michel Boisseau, who spoke about how Mondio is a game taking some of the best elements from different sports. With many countries participating, we have opportunity to work together and create peace even beyond our dogsports.
While Augusta no doubt wins the trial "over-achiever" award (organizator, handler, chien en blanc, deputy judge, bocculer and more) with six handlers, seven dogs, various support staff, and cheering sections, there were three countries represented this weekend, and thousands of miles of travel involved to bring us all together. Hunting Camp Village showed that even with some strong differences of opinion on dog training and organization politics, we can still get along, treat each other respectfully and have a good time!

more photos and trial details later maybe......
